The ColorBlast 12 utilizes 36 high-intensity red, green, and blue (RGB) LEDs to generate over 16 million (24-bit) additive colors. It operates using Color Kinetics' proprietary Chromacore technology and can be controlled via the full line of Color Kinetics controllers or third-party DMX512 (RS485) sources. The fixture is constructed with a rugged, die-cast aluminum housing and is fully sealed, carrying an IP66 rating suitable for wet locations.

For optical versatility, the ColorBlast 12 features a pivoting bezel and comes with two interchangeable tempered glass lenses: a 10° clear lens for extended light projection and a 23° soft-focus lens for wash lighting applications. The fixture is designed for easy installation with a versatile mounting base that allows for significant rotation and aiming flexibility. Power and data are supplied through a single integrated cable, which connects to an external 24 VDC power/data supply, such as the PDS-150e or PDS-60. Advanced thermal monitoring is included to protect the LEDs from extreme temperatures, ensuring long life and reliable performance.
