The Contemporary Research ATSC-SDI 4i is a commercial-grade, third-generation HDTV tuner designed specifically for professional broadcast and pro-AV environments. It serves as a universal receiver capable of tuning both digital ATSC and clear QAM cable channels, as well as traditional analog NTSC formats. A standout advancement in this model is its ability to decode both MPEG-2 and H.264 (MPEG-4) digital programs at resolutions up to 1080p60. It features simultaneous 3G-SDI and HDMI 1.3 outputs, ensuring that high-quality video and embedded audio can be distributed to professional production gear and standard displays at the same time.

Built for seamless integration, the ATSC-SDI 4i includes an onboard web page for remote configuration and monitoring, plus an IPTV streaming output via its Ethernet port. The unit is highly controllable through two-way RS-232 (daisy-chainable for up to 9 units), IP Telnet, and discrete IR commands. Its 1RU half-rack design allows for two units to be mounted side-by-side, making it a space-efficient solution for complex head-end installations. Additionally, the SDI output supports the passthrough of critical metadata, including 608 and 708 closed captioning and V-Chip data.
