Description

The Countryman Type 10S Stereo Direct Box can be used to connect the output of any high impedance instrument, such as a keyboard or guitar, to a balanced XLR microphone input, allowing you to send signal to a mixer or mic preamp from your high impedance instrument. It features a 1/4" and RCA input per channel, as well as a gold-plated stereo 1/8" input. The unit also has two 1/4" throughputs, allowing you to run a high impedance signal to an amplifier. The two balanced XLR outputs allow you to run your signal to any standard mic level input. The Type 10S is designed with a flat frequency response from 10Hz to 50kHz with a linear phase response within two degrees for its range. This provides an accurate transient response, resulting in a transfer of your signal that is faithful to the source. The Type 10S features an active circuit, powered by 48 volt phantom power or an internal nine-volt battery. The active circuit allows your signal to pass through the direct box without being padded, as with passive boxes, and results in lowered noise and interference. Read more

About the Countryman DT10S Type 10S Stereo Direct Box

The Countryman DT10 Type 10 Direct Box is an active, professional-grade direct injection (DI) box designed to convert unbalanced, high-impedance instrument-level signals into balanced, low-impedance microphone-level signals. This transformation is essential for cleanly integrating electronic instruments like keyboards, bass guitars, and acoustic guitar pickups into professional audio systems, such as mixing consoles and recording interfaces, over long cable runs without noise or signal degradation. The DT10 is renowned for its exceptionally transparent sound, adding no audible coloration to the source signal, which makes it a trusted choice for studio recording, live sound reinforcement, and broadcast applications where signal integrity is paramount.

Constructed with a rugged, all-metal chassis, the DT10 is built to withstand the rigors of touring and daily professional use. It features Neutrik combo XLR/TRS input and output jacks, providing versatile connectivity options. The active circuitry is powered by phantom power (48V) supplied from the connected mixer, eliminating the need for batteries or external power supplies and ensuring reliable operation. A ground lift switch is included to eliminate hum caused by ground loops, a common issue in complex audio setups. The unit also provides a parallel, unaffected output (thru) to feed the performer's on-stage amplifier simultaneously.

The Countryman DT10 excels due to its high-quality components and precise engineering, resulting in a wide frequency response, low noise, and high headroom. Its simple, effective design focuses on performing its core function flawlessly without unnecessary features. For audio engineers and musicians who demand the purest possible signal path from instrument to console, the DT10 Active Direct Box represents a benchmark of reliability and sonic transparency.
