Crestron CEN-ERFGW-POE Extended Range RF Wireless Gateway

The Crestron CEN-ERFGW-POE is an Extended Range RF wireless gateway designed to provide robust bidirectional communication between a Crestron control system and a wide array of wireless touch screens, remotes, and other compatible devices. Operating within the 2.4 GHz ISM band on IEEE 802.15.4 channels 11 through 26, this gateway supports up to 16 "Extended Range" wireless devices simultaneously, delivering reliable performance for residential and commercial automation applications. The gateway is compatible with modern Crestron wireless interfaces including the TSR-302, TST-602, and TST-902 touch screens, as well as legacy models such as the TST-600, TPS-6X, and UFO-WPR-3ER waterproof remote.

The Extended Range RF technology delivers impressive wireless coverage of approximately 100 to 200 feet indoors and up to 1,000 feet outdoors, subject to site-specific conditions. For installations requiring expanded coverage beyond a single gateway's range, the CEN-ERFGW-POE supports roaming among up to eight gateways, allowing devices to seamlessly transition between coverage zones without losing connection. The "Wi-Fi friendly" design permits manual or automatic selection from 16 ISM channels within the 2.4 GHz spectrum, minimizing potential interference with other RF equipment including 802.11 Wi-Fi devices.

Setup and integration are streamlined through multiple connectivity options. The gateway connects to a Crestron control system via either Cresnet or 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, with power delivered over the same connection—Power over Ethernet (PoE) using IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at standards simplifies installation by eliminating separate power wiring. Dynamic discovery automatically locates and acquires RF devices on the network, while intelligent data routing combats network noise to ensure clean signal delivery. The gateway continuously monitors each associated device, restoring communications seamlessly when devices wake from sleep or return within range. Configuration and management are facilitated through Crestron Toolbox software, and built-in RF network diagnostics assist with troubleshooting.
