The Crestron CLW-EXPEX-GD-W-T is a two-way RF wireless expander engineered to extend the range of an infiNET EX network throughout residential and commercial structures without requiring physical control wiring. Requiring only a standard 120V AC power outlet, this discreet device can be installed easily to fill any "dead" space between two or more rooms, making it ideal for retrofits and challenging RF environments. The white textured finish and ground-pin-down orientation allow the unit to blend unobtrusively into any decor while maintaining proper electrical safety.

The CLW-EXPEX operates on infiNET EX technology, which employs a 2.4 GHz mesh network topology where every device functions as an expander, passing command signals through to other infiNET EX devices within range. This creates multiple redundant signal paths, ensuring that every command reaches its intended destination without disruption. A single infiNET EX wireless network can support up to 100 devices, with up to five CLW-EXPEX expanders deployed to strengthen coverage. Battery-powered infiNET EX devices do not provide expander functionality, making the CLW-EXPEX essential for bridging coverage gaps.

Setup is straightforward via the integrated pushbutton with green LED, which puts the device into Acquire mode for linking to an infiNET EX gateway (sold separately, models such as CEN-RFGW-EX, DIN-AP3MEX, or MC3). A tap-tap-tap-press+hold sequence initiates the acquire process, and the LED provides visual confirmation of successful network joining. Once acquired, the CLW-EXPEX communicates with the control system, effectively extending wireless range up to 150 feet indoors (46 meters) and 250 feet outdoors (76 meters) to the nearest mesh network device, subject to site‑specific conditions.
