Crestron CNMK Mouse/Keyboard Controller

$0.00

The CNMK is a Cresnet expansion module that provides a PS/2 or USB interface between the Crestron control system and a Windows® based PC. The CNMK allows mouse and keyboard commands to be executed from the control system and sent to the computer to control software applications. Using the CNMK it is possible to display the equivalent of a QWERTY keyboard directly on any large touchpanel to allow manual real-time text entry directly from the touchpanel screen. Select keyboard commands can be assigned to buttons on any handheld remote to control computer-based slide presentations. Macros can be easily programmed to execute a string of commands.

The CNMK includes pass-through connectors to enable the simultaneous connection of a standard or wireless PS/2 keyboard and mouse. The CNMK may also be interfaced to a single USB port on the PC using the PS/2-to-USB Y-adapter included. The CNMK may be rack-mounted using the optional ST-RMK rack mount kit (sold separately). Communication with the control system is via a single Cresnet connection.

About the Crestron CNMK Mouse/Keyboard Controller

The Crestron CNMK Mouse/Keyboard Controller is a sophisticated interface device engineered to bring seamless computer control into integrated professional environments, particularly within corporate, educational, and governmental settings. This device functions as a transparent bridge, allowing users to operate a room's computer—often located in a secure rack—with the same intuitive experience as if they were sitting directly in front of it, using familiar USB peripherals. By connecting standard USB keyboards and mice to the CNMK, which then interfaces with a Crestron control system over a standard network cable, it extends the reach of these peripherals over long distances without signal degradation. This capability is fundamental to modern collaborative spaces, boardrooms, and lecture halls where presenting from a central computer is common, but physical access to it is restricted for security and tidiness.

The core technology involves a combination of high-speed USB extension and integration with the Crestron DigitalMedia and control platforms. The CNMK unit connected to the user's location encodes the USB Human Interface Device (HID) data from the keyboard and mouse, packets it, and transmits it over a network to a receiver module or directly to a DM input on a switcher. At the source end, this data is decoded and presented to the host computer as a native USB connection. This process happens with imperceptible latency, ensuring a responsive and natural feel for typing, cursor movement, and clicking. The system supports advanced keyboard functions, including multimedia keys and BIOS-level input, making it suitable for full system control, from boot-up to application use, without requiring software drivers on the host PC.

Designed for reliability in mission-critical applications, the CNMK features a robust, low-profile enclosure meant for tabletop installation or discreet mounting. Its design philosophy emphasizes plug-and-play operation within the Crestron ecosystem, simplifying installation and configuration for system integrators. For the end-user, it delivers an invisible yet vital layer of functionality: the freedom to control the presentation source computer from any seat in the room with their own preferred keyboard and mouse, fostering a more dynamic and interactive meeting or teaching environment. This device is a key component in creating streamlined, user-friendly technology spaces that hide complexity while delivering powerful, immediate control.
