Crestron CNXIO-16 16-Port Versiport Card for Y-Bus Expansion Slot

$0.00

The CNXIO-16 features 16 "Versiports" which function as analog inputs, digital inputs, or digital outputs. It installs in any Y-Bus expansion slot of a 2-Series control system. The CNXIO-16 Analog/Digital Input/Output Expansion Card provides 16 analog inputs or digital input/output connections. All pins pull up to +5V. The digital output is rated for 250 mA sync from maximum 24 VDC with catch diodes for use with ‘real world’ loads. The digital input is rated for 0 to 24 VDC. There is a 20K Ohm input impedance; programmable 2K Ohm pullup resistor (per pin, software reference to ground or closure to ground). To enable a 0K pull-up resistor, assign a logic “1” to the corresponding “pu#” pin in the software. The input logic threshold is 1.25 VDC. Analog input is rated for 0 to 10 VDC, protected to 24 VDC, maximum.

About the Crestron CNXIO-16 16-Port Versiport Card for Y-Bus Expansion Slot

The Crestron CNXIO-16 is a modular expansion card designed to insert into the "Y-Bus" expansion slot of compatible Crestron control system processors, such as the CP3 or PRO3 series. Its primary function is to add sixteen versatile, configurable I/O (Input/Output) ports to the host processor, significantly expanding its capacity to interface with and control a wide range of third-party devices and sensors within an integrated automation system. Each of the sixteen ports is independently software-configurable as a digital input, a digital output (relay or open-collector), an analog voltage input, or a serial (RS-232) port. This extreme flexibility allows a single card to replace multiple discrete interface modules, simplifying system design, reducing wiring complexity, and maximizing the utility of the central processor.

The card enables the Crestron processor to directly monitor contact closures from devices like door/window sensors, button panels, or dry-contact alarms (using digital inputs), and to control low-voltage devices such as motorized shades, relay-controlled lights, or magnetic locks (using digital outputs). When configured as analog inputs, the ports can read variable voltage levels from sensors for temperature, light level, or pressure. Configured as serial ports, they provide direct communication with legacy or specialized equipment that uses RS-232 control, such as projectors, displays, or older AV components. This consolidation of diverse interface types into one expansion card makes the CNXIO-16 a powerful tool for creating deeply integrated and responsive control systems in complex residential or commercial installations.

Designed for reliability in the core infrastructure of an automation system, the CNXIO-16 connects directly to the processor's high-speed internal bus, ensuring fast and reliable communication. It is typically installed by a certified Crestron programmer using Crestron's SystemBuilder and SIMPL Windows programming tools, where the function of each port is defined and integrated into the overall control logic. By providing this dense array of configurable I/O, the card empowers system integrators to connect virtually any low-voltage device to the Crestron ecosystem, enabling sophisticated automation scenarios and comprehensive environmental monitoring from a centralized, powerful controller.
