D&B Audiotechnik R70 Ethernet to Can Interface

The d&b Audiotechnik R70 is a professional Ethernet to CAN interface engineered to seamlessly integrate d&b Remote network systems into existing Ethernet infrastructures for centralized control and monitoring. Housed in a rugged extruded aluminum enclosure, this compact device provides the critical bridge between a PC running d&b R1 software and the CAN-Bus network that connects d&b amplifiers and loudspeaker systems. It enables wireless and long-distance remote control of complete d&b systems from anywhere on the network, offering infinite flexibility for system technicians and engineers. The complete package includes the R70 interface, external power supply with four interchangeable international plug adapters, RJ45 terminator, CD-ROM with documentation, and a 2-meter Ethernet cable for immediate connectivity.

The R70 features a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN connector with Power over Ethernet capability, allowing the device to be powered directly through the network cable without requiring a separate power source. For installations where PoE is unavailable, the unit includes a DC input for the included external power supply. Two parallel-wired RJ45 CAN connectors provide the interface to the d&b Remote network, with a built-in switchable 120-ohm terminator that can be activated via internal DIP switch when the R70 sits at the end of a CAN-Bus segment. Status monitoring is facilitated by five front-panel LEDs indicating power, CAN activity, errors, LAN connectivity, and termination status. The included web interface allows for straightforward configuration using any standard web browser, while support for up to five R70 interfaces connected simultaneously to a single PC enables comprehensive management of large-scale systems. This complete package delivers the essential link for modern, network-controlled d&b sound reinforcement installations.

About the D&B Audiotechnik R70 Ethernet to Can Interface

The d&b Audiotechnik R70 is a professional Ethernet to CAN interface purpose-built to seamlessly integrate d&b Remote network systems into modern Ethernet infrastructures for centralized control and monitoring. Housed in a rugged extruded aluminum enclosure measuring just 115 x 110 x 35 millimeters and weighing 230 grams, this compact device provides the critical bridge between a PC running d&b R1 remote control software and the CAN-Bus network that connects d&b amplifiers and loudspeaker systems. The R70 enables wireless and long-distance remote control of complete d&b systems from anywhere on the network, offering infinite flexibility for system technicians and engineers to manage large-scale sound reinforcement installations.

The R70 features a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet RJ45 LAN connector with Power over Ethernet capability (IEEE 802.3af) allowing the device to be powered directly through the network cable. For installations where PoE is unavailable or for use with non-PoE switches, the unit includes a DC input that accepts 10 to 30 Volts at 330 mA via a standard 2.1 x 5.5 mm barrel connector. Two parallel-wired RJ45 CAN connectors provide the interface to the d&b Remote network, with a built-in switchable 120-ohm terminator accessible via internal DIP switch that can be activated when the R70 sits at the end of a CAN-Bus segment. Status monitoring is facilitated by five front-panel LEDs indicating ON (power), CAN activity, ERROR, LAN connectivity, and TERMINATE status.

Configuration is remarkably straightforward using any standard web browser to access the R70's integrated web interface. In a network environment with a DHCP server, the unit obtains an IP address automatically; for direct connection scenarios, a static IP address can be assigned. The d&b R1 software then scans the network for connected R70 interfaces, listing all discovered devices for selection and control. Up to five R70 interfaces in TCP/IP mode may be connected simultaneously to a single PC and operated concurrently with the R1 remote software. The R70 features galvanically isolated CAN bus to prevent ground loop issues (maximum baud rate: 1 Mbit/s, CAN Specification 2.0 A/B, High Speed according to ISO 11898). An internal 16-bit controller is supported by 256 kB program flash, 8 MB data flash, 256 kB SRAM, and 8 kB EEPROM. The device is suitable for use in applications conforming to EN 60849 (IEC 60849) 'Electroacoustic emergency warning systems' and is a certified Crestron Integrated Partner and AMX InConcert Partner device.
