About the DBX DriveRack 4800 Complete Equalization & Loudspeaker Management System

The dbx DriveRack 4800 is a premium, 2U rack-mountable loudspeaker management system and digital signal processor (DSP). It is engineered to handle routing and tuning tasks between a mixing console and power amplifiers in touring sound rigs and large-scale commercial installations. Operating on a high-performance 96 kHz processing engine, this flagship unit features a \(4 \times 8\) input-to-output matrix design that accommodates both balanced analog XLR lines and transformer-isolated digital AES/EBU connections. System monitoring and on-the-fly manual adjustments are managed via a full-color QVGA front-panel display paired with independent threshold meters, dedicated mute knobs, and parameter control dials for rapid troubleshooting.

The core strength of the DriveRack 4800 lies in its extensive, customizable insert processing chain. Every input channel is equipped with a 31-band graphic EQ and a 9-band parametric EQ, while the outputs utilize highly configurable Bessel, Butterworth, and Linkwitz-Riley crossover filters alongside driver alignment delays. Users can drop specialized processing blocks into the signal path, including classic dbx compression, limiting, and Advanced Feedback Suppression (AFS) algorithms to protect hardware and ensure precise acoustic coverage. For multi-device system scaling, the unit integrates Ethernet HiQnet networking capabilities. This lets administrators manage multiple units simultaneously from a PC interface, deploy optional dbx zone wall controllers, or add an expansion card for multi-channel CobraNet digital audio distribution
