As recognisable as the consoles it supports, the DiGiCo D-Rack comes as standard with the SD9 and is available as an option on all SD-Series consoles. Providing 32 microphone inputs, 8 line outputs and 8 optional modular outputs that can be selected as either analogue or AES, the D-Rack provides a maximum capacity of 32 ins and 16 outs at 48kHz. The hum and noise of analogue multicores are eliminated courtesy of a digital Cat5e connection to the console work surface. When running at 96kHz on Cat5e, the D-Rack supports 28 mic inputs and up to 16 outputs. For full flexibility, optional 7U rack mount ears are also available alongside an extra PSU for redundancy and a fibre optic connection.

About the DiGiCo D-Rack Cat 6 Analog I/O

The DiGiCo D-Rack is a modular remote I/O stagebox designed for the DiGiCo D Series digital mixing consoles, utilizing a standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable for its primary digital audio and control connection via DiGiCo's proprietary "Stealth" digital processing network. This rack-mountable unit serves to place high-quality analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion directly at the stage, minimizing long analog cable runs and preserving signal integrity. It is highly modular, allowing users to configure it with a variety of input and output cards to meet specific needs, such as cards loaded with premium microphone preamplifiers, line-level I/O, or AES digital interfaces. This flexibility enables the creation of a custom I/O footprint, from a compact 16-input rack to a large system with over 96 inputs and outputs.

A standout feature of the D-Rack is its use of the ubiquitous Cat6 cable for the main link, which is more robust, readily available, and easier to terminate in the field than specialized digital audio cables. The "Stealth" protocol running over this cable carries a massive amount of bidirectional audio channels (up to 192 at 48kHz), along with remote control data and clock synchronization, over distances up to 100 meters. All parameters for the installed preamp cards—including gain, phantom power, and high-pass filters—are fully remote-controllable from the surface of the connected D Series console, giving the engineer at front-of-house complete and immediate control over the stage sound.

Built for the rigors of touring, the D-Rack features a robust metal chassis, redundant power supply options, and comprehensive status displays. It is engineered for reliability and low latency, ensuring stable performance in the most demanding live sound environments.
