About the Disguise VX4+ Media Server
The Disguise VX4+ is a flagship professional media server engineered for the world's largest and most technically demanding live events, virtual productions, broadcast installations, and immersive experiences. Building upon the legacy of its predecessor, the VX4+ represents a quantum leap in performance, capable of handling twice the number of video layers while significantly improving storage performance and video throughput with up to 100GbE bandwidth for higher resolution live video. This server is designed for high-stakes production environments such as concert tours, esports tournaments, broadcast studios, theme park attractions, and xR (extended reality) stages where uncompromising reliability and ultra-low latency are non-negotiable.
At the heart of the VX4+ is a powerful Intel Xeon 3.1 GHz processor paired with an AMD RADEON Pro VII GPU and 128 GB of DDR4 RAM, providing the computational muscle required for demanding real-time graphics and 4K video processing. Storage is handled by a RAID array of four removable 1.92 TB NVMe SSDs (default RAID 10 configuration), ensuring high-speed data access for seamless playback of lossless 10-bit 4K60 video content. The server features a new PCI-Express 4.0 motherboard, CPU, GPU, and RAID storage integration, delivering unmatched video playback and compositing performance while keeping latency to an absolute minimum.
The VX4+ is designed as a cornerstone of Disguise's modular ecosystem, working seamlessly with Disguise VFC cards, rx render nodes, and pre-configured network switch fabric. Key differentiators from the base VX4 include the inclusion of two 100GbE network ports and 12G-SDI video capture as standard equipment, enabling the VX4+ to be deployed for 4K xR compositing alongside clusters of rx render nodes. The server includes four HDMI 2.0 VFC output cards that support resolutions up to 4096 x 2160, with VFC slots allowing interchangeable output card options such as DisplayPort, DVI, or SDI formats. The server is also compatible with upcoming IP Video Format Conversion (VFC) cards, a patented technology that enables SMPTE 2110 video output. The VX4+ ships with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise GAC and the full disguise production suite pre-installed, packaged in a durable 4U rack-mountable chassis weighing 21 kg.
