The Datavideo DAC-8P is a compact, broadcast-quality video format converter designed to bridge the gap between professional SDI video equipment and widely available, cost-effective consumer HDMI displays. Specifically, it seamlessly converts both HD-SDI and SD-SDI signals into a standard HDMI output. This allows AV integrators, broadcasters, and live event producers to utilize affordable LCD and plasma televisions, or standard HDMI video projectors, as high-quality broadcast monitoring screens without needing to purchase expensive SDI-native monitors.

Constructed in a rugged, heat-dissipating metal chassis, the DAC-8P is built to withstand the rigors of field production and mobile broadcasting. It is essentially a plug-and-play device that requires no complex software configuration; it automatically detects the incoming SDI signal and scales it to the appropriate HDMI output resolution (up to 1080p60). Furthermore, it passes along any embedded audio within the SDI stream directly to the HDMI output, ensuring synchronized audio and video playback on the target display.
