About the Eminence Omega Pro 12A 8 Ohms Speaker Woofer

The Eminence Omega Pro 12A (and its modern successor, the Omega Pro-12-2KW-8) is a heavy-duty, professional-grade 12-inch cast-frame audio woofer engineered for extremely high-power applications. Built in the USA, it is widely regarded as a staple in the live sound reinforcement industry. It is designed to act as a high-output mid-bass driver in compact two-way PA cabinets, or as a dedicated low-frequency woofer in vented subwoofers and floor monitors.

To handle massive amounts of power without burning out, the Omega Pro 12 utilizes a massive 109-ounce ferrite magnet and a robust 4-inch (101.6 mm) copper voice coil wrapped around a fiberglass (or Kapton on older models) former. Combined with a vented and extended pole piece, this design efficiently dissipates heat, drastically reducing power compression during long, high-volume gigs. The woofer is mounted in a rigid die-cast aluminum basket that prevents warping and ensures the voice coil remains perfectly centered even under extreme physical excursion.
