Description

The ESE ES-161U is a professional 6-digit universal time-code display designed for broadcast studios, television production, radio stations, post-production facilities, and master clock systems. Featuring six 0.56-inch amber LED digits, it automatically detects and displays ESE Time Code™ (TC76, TC89, TC90), SMPTE/EBU time code, and RS-232 ASCII time code without manual configuration. Internal DIP switches allow users to select 12-hour or 24-hour time formats, display the date when available, and configure optional time zone offsets. Error detection and correction circuitry maintains a stable, flicker-free display, even with degraded time-code signals. About the ESE ES-161U 6-Digit Time-Code Display

The ESE ES-161UE (often referred to simply as the ES-161U) is a highly versatile, 6-digit time-code remote display designed for broadcast studios, post-production suites, and live event control rooms. Its primary function is to provide an accurate, highly visible readout of the time-of-day or an elapsed timer by perfectly syncing to a master clock or timer within the facility.

The unit is designed as a "smart" slave display. Via its rear-mounted BNC and 9-pin connectors, it accepts standard ESE Time Code, SMPTE/EBU Time Code, or RS-232C ASCII Time Code. The ES-161UE automatically detects which code format is being received without requiring the user to manually switch inputs. To ensure maximum visibility from across a control room, it features six bright, .56-inch yellow (often described as amber) LED digits. The unit is highly configurable via internal DIP switches, allowing operators to easily toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour time formats, or switch it to display the current date if the incoming time code contains date information.
