ESE ES-244 4x4 Audio Level Interface (NEEDS REPAIR)

The ESE ES-244 is a professional-grade, stereo, bi-directional audio level and impedance interface designed to bridge the gap between consumer-level audio gear and professional studio equipment. Often referred to as a "bump box" or matching amplifier, its primary function is to provide a clean, cost-effective way to connect devices with unbalanced, -10 dBV signal levels (such as consumer CD players, computer sound cards, or tape decks) to professional hardware that utilizes balanced, +4 dBm or +8 dBm signal levels (like recording interfaces, broadcast routers, and mixing consoles).

The unit is truly bi-directional, meaning it handles both conversion paths simultaneously. It takes a stereo unbalanced signal and actively bumps it up to a balanced professional level, while concurrently taking a stereo balanced signal and attenuating it down to a safe, unbalanced consumer level. The ES-244 features high-quality female XLR connectors for balanced inputs, male XLRs for balanced outputs, and standard RCA jacks for the unbalanced side. Housed in a rugged, black anodized aluminum enclosure, it can be used as a standalone desktop unit or rack-mounted using ESE's optional single or dual rack-mount panels.
