The Extron DVS 605 is a high-performance, HDCP-compliant video scaler designed as a comprehensive integration centerpiece for professional AV systems incorporating both digital and analog sources. Featuring three HDMI inputs and two universal auto-detecting analog video inputs, the DVS 605 accommodates a wide range of source formats including RGB computer video, HDTV component video, S-video, and composite video through its 15-pin HD connectors. Simultaneous scaled outputs on HDMI and analog RGB or component video allow the device to drive two displays concurrently, with optional 3G-SDI/HD-SDI output models available for a third display.

The advanced scaling engine operates with 30-bit precision processing and features motion-adaptive deinterlacing for interlaced signals up to 1080i, delivering optimized image quality for a variety of source resolutions. Deep Color processing and automatic 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection maximize image fidelity, particularly for film-originated content. The DVS 605 accepts and outputs signals up to 1920x1200, including 1080p/60 and 2K, with selectable output rates from 640x480 to 1920x1200. Aspect ratio control offers FILL mode for full-screen output or FOLLOW mode to preserve original input aspect ratios.

True seamless switching is available between Inputs 1 through 4 with selectable cut or dissolve transition effects, while Input 5 features Glitch Free switching technology with a fade-through-black transition. The flexible Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode allows any two video sources connected to Inputs 1 through 4 to be displayed simultaneously, with several presets including side-by-side windows, and the PIP window can be dynamically sized and positioned anywhere within the image. Auto-switching between inputs with configurable priority streamlines system operation for unsupervised installations such as lecterns or conference tables.

All DVS 605 models provide automatic lip sync compensation for video processing delay. Audio-equipped models (DVS 605 A and DVS 605 AD) feature five-input audio switching, HDMI audio embedding and de-embedding, gain and attenuation adjustments for each analog input, and fixed and variable balanced/unbalanced line outputs on captive screw connectors, plus S/PDIF digital audio on coaxial RCA. The DVS 605 AD model can embed up to eight channels of audio onto the 3G-SDI/HD-SDI output. Two Extron-exclusive technologies enhance system reliability: EDID Minder manages EDID communication between sources and displays to ensure correct video formats are displayed reliably, while Key Minder continuously authenticates and maintains HDCP encryption for protected content, outputting a full-screen green signal when encrypted content is routed to a non-HDCP compliant display.
