Extron OCS 100C Ceiling Mounted Occupancy Sensor

$100.00 - $138.00

The Extron OCS 100C is a ceiling-mounted occupancy sensor that combines two detection technologies: Passive Infrared (PIR) and Ultrasonic (US). The PIR sensor works by detecting the difference in heat generated by moving people versus the ambient room temperature, while the US sensor emits and measures the return speed of ultrasonic sound waves to detect movement. This combination ensures a wide coverage area and excellent detection capabilities, helping to avoid false triggers. The sensor is intended for use with Extron control products that have digital I/Os ports, and can also be used with optional eBUS interface accessories for connection via eBUS. It features "Smart, adaptive software" (InteliDAPT® technology) that automatically and continuously adjusts timer and sensitivity settings over time for maintenance-free operation. The OCS 100C can also be manually configured via internal DIP switches and adjustment dials for infrared sensitivity, ultrasonic range, timer, and photocell sensitivity. The integrated photocell allows the sensor to prevent connected devices, such as lights, from turning on if the room is already adequately lit by natural light.

About the Extron OCS 100C Ceiling Mounted Occupancy Sensor

The Extron OCS 100C is a professional ceiling-mounted occupancy sensor designed for integration into automated room control systems to manage energy usage and system functionality based on room occupancy. This sensor utilizes passive infrared (PIR) technology to detect motion and body heat within its coverage area, signaling to a control processor whether a room is occupied or vacant. It is engineered for reliable performance in commercial environments such as conference rooms, classrooms, and offices, where it can trigger actions like turning on or off lighting, audiovisual equipment, and HVAC systems. By automating power management based on actual room usage, the OCS 100C helps reduce energy consumption and extends the lifespan of AV equipment.

Installation and configuration are tailored for system integrators. The sensor is typically mounted on the ceiling, providing a wide, downward-looking field of view. It features adjustable sensitivity and time delay settings, allowing installers to fine-tune its response to the specific size and usage patterns of the room—for example, setting how long the room must be vacant before it sends an "unoccupied" signal. The OCS 100C connects to compatible Extron control systems, such as the MediaLink controllers or TouchLink control processors, via a low-voltage wire that carries both power and data. This integration allows the occupancy status to be used as a condition in room control logic, enabling sophisticated automation sequences.

The sensor is housed in a discreet, low-profile white enclosure that blends with standard ceiling tiles. Its design focuses on reliability, with features to minimize false triggers from sources like HVAC airflow. As a component within a larger Extron control ecosystem, the OCS 100C provides the essential "intelligence" for presence-based automation, contributing to smarter, more efficient, and user-friendly room environments. It exemplifies a practical approach to building automation, where simple sensor input drives significant energy savings and operational convenience.
