For decades, traditional audio/video components were simple analog devices designed to easily weather power outages of well over two seconds.  Later, as computer and microprocessor-based components gained in popularity, their extraordinary sensitivity to even a fraction of a second’s power loss was managed with traditional UPS (uninterruptible power supply) technology.

The Furman F1000-UPS is a rack-mountable uninterruptible power supply (UPS) specifically engineered for professional audio, video, and critical low-power IT equipment. It combines pure sine wave battery backup power with Furman's signature multi-stage AC line conditioning and filtration in a single 2U chassis. The system's primary function is to provide seamless, uninterrupted AC power during blackouts, brownouts, or severe voltage sags, allowing connected equipment to either continue operating or undergo a safe, controlled shutdown to prevent data loss and hardware damage. With a 1000VA/600W rating, it is suitable for protecting essential loads such as mixing consoles, digital signal processors, network switches, and computer servers in broadcast studios, post-production suites, and performance venues.

Beyond backup power, the unit actively conditions the incoming AC line at all times using Furman's Sequential Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) technology. This includes high-speed transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS), EMI/RFI noise filtration exceeding 50 dB, and automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to correct for minor under-voltage and over-voltage conditions without draining the battery. This continuous conditioning protects sensitive electronics from the cumulative damage caused by everyday power line noise, spikes, and minor fluctuations, which can degrade performance and shorten component lifespan. The front panel features an intuitive LCD display that provides real-time status on input/output voltage, load percentage, battery charge level, and estimated runtime.

Designed for integration into professional equipment racks, the F1000-UPS includes both rear-panel and front-panel NEMA 5-15R outlets for flexible gear connection. It incorporates a user-replaceable, maintenance-free sealed lead-acid battery. Communication and control are facilitated via a USB port for connection to a host computer, allowing for remote monitoring, automatic graceful shutdown of connected systems, and configuration via included software. By merging pure sine wave battery backup with professional-grade power conditioning in a rack-optimized format, the Furman F1000-UPS delivers comprehensive power protection, ensuring system uptime, data integrity, and the long-term reliability of critical equipment.
