The Hosa Sidekick DIB-443 is an affordable, robust passive direct injection (DI) box designed to bridge the gap between high-impedance unbalanced instruments and low-impedance balanced professional audio gear. Acting as a critical problem-solver for live sound engineers and home studio recording, it seamlessly converts the unbalanced 1/4-inch TS signal from electric guitars, basses, or keyboards into a balanced, low-impedance XLR signal. This balanced signal can then be run over very long cable distances to a mixing console or stage snake without picking up unwanted electromagnetic interference or suffering from high-frequency signal degradation.

Because it is a passive device utilizing an internal isolation transformer, the DIB-443 requires absolutely no batteries, external power supplies, or 48V phantom power to operate—offering true plug-and-play reliability. It features a 1/4-inch output to easily pass the instrument signal through to a local stage amplifier while simultaneously sending the XLR feed to the main house mixer. Additionally, it provides an "Inst/Line" switch to safely pad down hotter line-level signals (like those coming from an amp's line-out or an effects processor), alongside a dedicated Ground Lift switch to instantly eliminate ground loop hums and buzzes often encountered on stage.
