The Hall Research Technologies (HRT) VHD-2 is a professional-grade VGA-to-TV scan converter designed to bridge the gap between high-resolution computer graphics and broadcast or consumer television displays. It takes an analog VGA signal from a PC or laptop and actively scales and converts it into standard-definition or high-definition TV formats.

Because older televisions, analog video switchers, and recording decks cannot natively process the fast refresh rates and progressive scan resolutions output by a standard computer graphics card, AV integrators require an active scaling device.
