It is typically deployed as the receiving end of a paired extension system, receiving the signal generated by a DIGI-HD-COAX-S transmitter.

Because older commercial buildings, houses of worship, and residential homes are frequently pre-wired with extensive networks of standard coaxial cable (originally used for analog cable TV or CCTV), upgrading a facility to digital HDMI often means pulling entirely new Cat6 network cable or running expensive active HDMI cables through existing walls.
