About the JBL Professional VT4889ADP-DA Powered Fullsize 3-Way High Directivity Line Array Element

The JBL Professional VT4889ADP-DA is a premium, powered three-way line array loudspeaker module designed as the core element for large-scale concert touring, festival systems, and permanent installations requiring maximum acoustic output and precise directivity control. This variant, denoted by "ADP" and "-DA," signifies it is a fully self-contained, actively powered cabinet with integrated Differential Drive amplification and onboard digital signal processing (DSP). The enclosure's composite construction provides an optimal balance of extreme rigidity and minimal weight, which is paramount for safely flying large arrays. Its three-way design is meticulously engineered with dedicated transducers: dual 15-inch low-frequency drivers utilizing JBL's proprietary Differential Drive technology for high power handling, an 8-inch Differential Drive midrange driver coupled to a optimized horn, and a 3-inch diaphragm compression driver on a constant-directivity high-frequency horn. This dedicated architecture allows for exceptional clarity, dynamic range, and minimal distortion across the entire frequency spectrum.

The integrated amplification and DSP system is what defines the "Powered" and "-DA" designation. The cabinet houses three dedicated amplifier channels—one for each driver section—powered by Crown i-Tech HD or equivalent technology, delivering massive, efficient, and clean power precisely matched to the drivers' requirements. The onboard DSP provides critical loudspeaker management, including sophisticated crossover filtering, driver-specific limiting and protection, complex equalization for array optimization, and time alignment. This processing is pre-configured with multiple presets that tailor the cabinet's response for different array sizes and configurations (e.g., main hang, side fill, ground stack), ensuring optimal performance directly out of the box while protecting the system from misuse. Network connectivity via HiQnet or other protocols allows for comprehensive remote monitoring and control of every cabinet in an array from a single computer.

Built for the rigors of global touring, the VT4889ADP-DA features JBL's robust, precision-engineered rigging system. The front- and rear-frame design allows for rapid, secure assembly into arrays with adjustable inter-cabinet angles to create the desired vertical coverage pattern. The system includes multiple, redundant flying points for maximum safety. The composite shell is not only lightweight but also highly resistant to environmental factors. By converging high-output transducer design, perfectly matched high-density amplification, and array-optimized DSP into a single, road-ready enclosure, the JBL VT4889ADP-DA provides system designers and audio engineers with a powerful, predictable, and reliable building block for constructing the highest-performance large-format sound reinforcement systems in the world.
