Lutron LRF2-OCR2B-P Radio Powr Savr

$0.00

Lutron's ceiling-mounted occupancy/vacancy sensors are wireless, battery-powered passive infrared (PIR) sensors that automatically control lights via RF communication to compatible dimming and switching devices. These sensors detect the heat from people (IR radiation of 9.5 µm) moving within an area to determine when the space is occupied. The sensors then wirelessly transmit the appropriate commands to the associated dimming and switching devices to turn the lights on or off automatically. They combine both convenience and exceptional energy savings potential along with ease of installation.

About the Lutron LRF2-OCR2B-P Radio Powr Savr

The Lutron LRF2-OCR2B-P is a wireless, ceiling-mounted occupancy/vacancy sensor designed for automatic lighting control to enhance energy efficiency and convenience in commercial and residential spaces. Part of Lutron's Radio Powr Savr line, this sensor uses passive infrared (PIR) technology to detect motion within its defined coverage area, signaling compatible Lutron wireless dimmers and switches (like Maestro wireless or Caséta devices) to turn lights on when occupancy is sensed and off after the space becomes vacant. A key feature is its "vacancy sensor" mode, which requires manual activation (e.g., via a switch) to turn lights on but will automatically turn them off after a period of no motion, promoting further energy savings by preventing lights from being left on unnecessarily.

The sensor operates on Lutron's Clear Connect RF protocol, a robust, interference-resistant wireless system that ensures reliable communication with other devices without the need for control wiring, making it ideal for retrofits and renovations. It is designed for easy installation in a standard single-gang electrical box or a 4-inch round junction box on the ceiling, offering flexible mounting options. The unit includes adjustable settings for sensitivity, time delay (the duration lights remain on after last detected motion), and ambient light level, allowing installers to fine-tune its operation to the specific room's layout and usage patterns. The ambient light sensing feature can prevent lights from turning on if sufficient natural daylight is present, a strategy known as daylight harvesting.

Engineered for reliability and discreet appearance, the LRF2-OCR2B-P features a low-profile, white housing that blends into commercial ceilings. By automating lighting based on actual room usage, it significantly reduces energy consumption and extends lamp life, contributing to lower utility costs and sustainability goals. Its integration into the broader Lutron ecosystem allows for the creation of comprehensive, wireless lighting control systems that are both user-friendly and highly efficient, making it a fundamental component for modern smart building and home automation projects focused on energy management.
