About the MA Lighting grandMA2 Light Lighting Console

The MA Lighting grandMA2 light is a professional-grade lighting control console that occupies a pivotal role in the mid-range of the renowned grandMA2 series, offering a powerful and comprehensive feature set for controlling intelligent lighting and visual effects. It is engineered to meet the demanding needs of touring productions, theatrical shows, television studios, and large fixed installations where show reliability and extensive programming capabilities are non-negotiable. The console strikes a careful balance between the expansive power of its larger siblings and a more compact, cost-effective physical footprint, providing a full implementation of the grandMA2 operating system. This means users have access to the same sophisticated software, including a fully-featured 3D visualizer for pre-visualization and the powerful MA-Net2 protocol for commanding thousands of parameters across complex lighting rigs, all from a streamlined hardware interface.

At the heart of its operation is a dedicated processing system that manages multiple universal DMX output universes, extensive cue lists, and complex effect engines with high precision and stability. The console features a combination of tactile controls, including two multi-function playback fader wings with customizable buttons and motorized faders for precise playback control, and two high-resolution multi-touch screens that provide a fluid, intuitive interface for accessing palettes, presets, and fixture parameters. This hybrid physical and touchscreen interface allows lighting designers to work with speed and muscle memory for live playback while retaining deep, menu-driven access for programming and patching. The system’s architecture is built for redundancy and networking, capable of operating in session with other grandMA2 consoles or processing units to create robust, fail-safe control systems for mission-critical events.

Constructed with durability for the road, the console features a robust metal chassis, a responsive mechanical keyboard, and high-quality components designed to withstand the rigors of touring. Its design philosophy centers on providing a professional programmer or operator with a complete, stand-alone tool that does not compromise on software capability. For productions that require powerful, nuanced control of moving lights, LEDs, media servers, and conventional dimmers without the physical size of a full-size console, the grandMA2 light represents an industry-standard solution. It delivers the depth, reliability, and creative freedom that professionals demand, making it a cornerstone for lighting control in a wide array of professional environments.
