About the Mackie MCK-2048460-00 10" Powered Studio Subwoofer

The Mackie MCK-2048460-00 is a 10-inch, powered studio subwoofer designed to extend the low-frequency response of nearfield studio monitor systems, providing accurate and powerful bass reproduction for critical listening, mixing, and multimedia production. This compact subwoofer is engineered to seamlessly integrate with Mackie's MR Series and other brand studio monitors, filling in the lower octaves that smaller satellite speakers cannot reproduce, thereby creating a full-range monitoring environment essential for modern music production, film scoring, and audio post-production. It features a custom 10-inch, long-throw woofer powered by a dedicated internal amplifier, delivering controlled and articulate bass with minimal distortion, ensuring that mix decisions regarding low-end elements like kick drums, bass guitars, and sound design effects are accurate and reliable.

The subwoofer incorporates a sophisticated active crossover and comprehensive control set for precise system integration. Users can adjust the crossover frequency to match the roll-off of their specific satellite speakers, ensuring a smooth transition between the subwoofer and the main monitors. A phase switch (0° or 180°) allows for time alignment correction to prevent cancellations at the crossover point, which is crucial for achieving a flat, unified frequency response. Input options typically include both left/right RCA and balanced 1/4-inch TRS inputs, with corresponding high-pass filtered outputs that send a processed signal to the main monitors. This relieves the satellites of low-frequency reproduction duties, improving their mid-range clarity, maximizing headroom, and protecting them from potential damage. A front-panel volume control enables precise level matching with the existing monitor system.

Constructed with a durable MDF cabinet and a textured finish, the MCK-2048460-00 is built for the demands of daily studio use. Its front-firing driver and port design allow for flexible placement, including under a desk or near a wall, without excessive port noise. The amplifier section includes protection against thermal overload and short circuits. By providing extended, accurate bass response in a studio-optimized package, this Mackie subwoofer empowers producers, engineers, and multimedia creators to hear and control the entire frequency spectrum, leading to mixes that translate accurately to other playback systems.
