About the Matthews Medium Duty Slider

The Matthews Medium Duty Kit Stand with Brake is a compact, robust aluminum light stand designed primarily for location grip and lighting kits. It serves as the perfect "in-between" support when a heavy C-Stand is too bulky to travel with, but a cheap pop-up stand isn't strong enough to hold professional fixtures.

Because lightweight tubular stands often rely on fragile plastic pinch-castings that crack or slip under heavy loads, Matthews engineered this stand with a proprietary V-shaped brake shoe system. This mechanism allows the riser collars to securely lock off with three points of strong contact without crimping or denting the internal tubes. As a result, a stand that physically weighs only 3.5 pounds can safely support up to a 20-pound lighting fixture or heavy softbox without slowly sinking in the middle of a shoot.
