Meyer Sound MM-4 Controller

$0.00

A two-channel, single rack unit, the MM-4CEU control electronics unit (Figure i.2) provides the required frequency and phase response correction circuitry tailored to the MM-4 loudspeaker. Through a SpeakerSense™ connection to the power amplifier output, the MM-4CEU continuously monitors the power applied to the drivers, activating integral peak and RMS limiters to protect against over-excursion and overheating.

About the Meyer Sound MM-4 Controller

The Meyer Sound MM-4 Controller is a dedicated, high-resolution signal processing and management unit specifically designed to configure, align, and control Meyer MM-4 and similar miniature wide-range loudspeakers. This compact, self-powered processor functions as the essential electronic interface between a standard audio source and the MM-4 speaker's unique drive units, ensuring the speaker performs precisely as engineered by Meyer's acoustic design team. It provides the critical crossover filtering, equalization, time alignment, and system protection that the passive MM-4 cabinet requires, effectively transforming the raw full-range audio signal into an optimized, bi-amplified output perfectly tailored to the speaker's transducer characteristics and enclosure design. This dedicated controller is fundamental to unlocking the full performance and sonic integrity of the MM-4 system.

Beyond basic drive functions, the MM-4 Controller offers sophisticated user-adjustable parameters for system integration and acoustic compensation. It features comprehensive input and output equalization, allowing system engineers to fine-tune the speaker's response to compensate for room acoustics or specific installation requirements. Advanced functions include precise delay settings for time-aligning the MM-4s with other speakers in a larger sound system, polarity inversion, and high-pass filter options. The unit also incorporates intelligent, multi-stage limiting to protect the MM-4's delicate high-frequency transducer from damage caused by power overloads or signal spikes, ensuring long-term reliability in demanding applications.

Housed in a robust, rack-mountable chassis, the controller is designed for both fixed installations and portable use. It typically provides balanced line-level inputs and outputs on XLR connectors and includes a front-panel volume control and status indicators. By centralizing all necessary processing and protection into a single, purpose-built component, the Meyer Sound MM-4 Controller guarantees that every connected MM-4 loudspeaker delivers consistent, predictable, and high-fidelity audio. It exemplifies Meyer's system-oriented philosophy, where the electronics and transducers are developed as a cohesive unit, providing installers and audio professionals with a reliable, calibrated tool for deploying these highly regarded miniature speakers in applications ranging from discreet architectural installations to high-end surround sound monitoring.
