The Monoprice 11749 is a straightforward, professional-grade HDMI to 3G-SDI converter designed to bridge commercial HDMI video sources with professional broadcast SDI equipment. It takes an uncompressed HDMI signal from devices like computers, Blu-ray players, or consumer video switchers, and converts it into a Serial Digital Interface (SDI) signal. Because the unit features dual SDI outputs, a single HDMI source can be simultaneously split and transmitted to two separate SDI destinations—such as a primary production switcher and a local confidence monitor—without requiring an additional SDI distribution amplifier.

Operating as a true plug-and-play device, the 11749 requires no software configuration or hardware dip-switches. It seamlessly supports standard SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and high-bandwidth 3G-SDI formats, allowing it to output video resolutions up to 1080p at 60Hz. Crucially for live production environments, it supports long-distance cable runs over standard 75-ohm coaxial cable, pushing a 3G-SDI signal up to 100 meters (328 feet) and an SD-SDI signal up to a massive 400 meters (1,312 feet). Furthermore, it fully supports HDCP and passes through up to eight channels of uncompressed PCM digital audio at a 48kHz sampling rate, ensuring your audio feed remains perfectly synced with the video.
