About the On-Stage AS800 FET Condenser Mic

The On-Stage AS800 is an all-purpose microphone solution for recording vocals and instruments in home and project studios. Designed to record a wide range of source material with very-low self-noise, the mic features a gold, 32mm large-diaphragm condenser element that, while sensitive, can handle a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of up to 125 dB without distorting. While large-diaphragm condensers are commonly chosen for vocals, the relatively high SPL handling and balanced natural sound means the mic can be used on a wide variety of instruments as well, including loud instruments such as drums and guitars.

The AS800 features a cardioid pickup pattern, which focuses audio capture on the performer in front of the mic, picking up less unwanted off-axis sound for cleaner recordings. A low-cut switch can be engaged to filter out low-end mechanical noise and rumbles from HVAC systems. The included shockmount connects to any standard microphone stand and suspends the mic, isolating it from vibrations and additional rumbling noise.

The AS800 connects to gear with a standard 3-pin XLR connection and requires 48V phantom power from a mixer, interface, or preamp for operation. A foam windscreen to reduce breath and plosive noise is included along with a mic pouch and carrying case.
