The Optimal Power RPS5412 is a 1U rack-mountable Redundant Power Supply (RPS) engineered specifically to provide seamless failover power for NETGEAR's line of RPS-capable managed switches. In mission-critical networking environments, this unit acts as an essential safety net; if the internal AC power supply of the connected network switch suddenly fails, the RPS5412 instantly takes over the power load without interrupting data traffic or causing the switch to reboot.

Because modern networking often involves powering external devices over the network cables, the RPS5412 is built with a dual-voltage architecture. It simultaneously delivers up to 100 Watts of +12V DC power to run the switch's core processing logic, alongside up to 300 Watts of -52V DC power to support Power over Ethernet (PoE) operations. This robust 300W PoE budget ensures that if a failure occurs, downstream devices like VoIP phones, IP security cameras, and wireless access points will remain online. It connects to the host switch via a proprietary heavy-duty DC umbilical cable (model RPSC5412).
