Peavey Architectural Acoustics Media Matrix CAB 16o CobraNet Audio Bridge

$79.99

The Peavey MediaMatrix CAB 16o is a professional-grade audio output bridge intended for fixed installations and large-scale audio systems such as stadiums, theme parks, and performing arts centers. It facilitates the seamless transmission of 16 channels of line-level audio off an Ethernet network using the proprietary CobraNet protocol, ensuring error-free, low-latency performance.

The unit features 24-bit D/A converters with 128 times oversampling for a low noise and wide dynamic range of 110 dB typical. Its front panel includes level meters for each channel and rotary switches for unit ID, while the rear panel offers balanced audio outputs via Euro-style connectors, a non-Ethernet RS-485 control port, and word clock linking connectors for system redundancy ("buddy link"). All output levels and volumes are software controllable through the MediaMatrix nWare™ software suite.

About the Peavey Architectural Acoustics Media Matrix CAB 16o CobraNet Audio Bridge

The Peavey Architectural Acoustics Media Matrix CAB 16o is a high-density audio interface bridge designed to seamlessly integrate legacy analog audio systems with modern CobraNet audio-over-Ethernet networks. This device serves as a critical conversion node in large-scale installed sound applications, such as corporate campuses, stadiums, worship facilities, and transportation hubs, where centralized digital signal processing is utilized. Its primary function is to bi-directionally convert sixteen channels of balanced analog audio into a standardized CobraNet digital audio stream, and vice-versa, enabling analog zone amplifiers, mixers, and source equipment to communicate with a central Media Matrix or other CobraNet-compatible digital audio system over a standard Ethernet infrastructure.

The unit is engineered for reliability and transparent signal integrity in 24/7 operation. It features robust, servo-balanced analog inputs and outputs on terminal blocks, providing secure connections and common-mode noise rejection for long cable runs typical in architectural installations. On the network side, it employs dual Ethernet ports for CobraNet audio transport, supporting redundant network configurations to ensure audio continuity—a critical requirement for life-safety paging and mission-critical background music systems. The CAB 16o acts as a managed endpoint on the network, allowing audio channels to be precisely routed and controlled from a central software platform, effectively extending the reach and flexibility of the digital audio system to virtually any analog endpoint.

Configuration and monitoring are accomplished through intuitive software, which allows integrators to assign CobraNet bundles to specific analog channels, set gain structure, and apply basic delay. The device is housed in a single rack-space enclosure designed for quiet, fanless operation, making it suitable for installation in equipment racks within finished spaces. By bridging the gap between discrete analog components and a unified digital audio network, the Media Matrix CAB 16o provides a scalable and future-proof method for expanding and modernizing installed sound systems, protecting investments in existing analog amplification while gaining the benefits of centralized digital control and distribution.
