The Peavey NIO AES is an 8-channel digital audio input/output expansion module designed for the Peavey MediaMatrix NION and nX series digital signal processors. It provides eight channels of AES/EBU digital audio I/O (four stereo pairs), allowing these powerful DSP systems to interface directly with digital audio equipment such as digital mixing consoles, CD/DAT players, or other AES3-compatible devices. The module installs into an available slot within the NION or nX chassis, seamlessly expanding the system's digital connectivity and integrating these channels into the MediaMatrix control and routing environment.

Each of the eight channels (configured as four stereo AES3 streams) supports professional 24-bit audio at standard sample rates. The module enables the NION system to receive digital audio for processing (e.g., equalization, dynamics, mixing) and to output processed audio to digital destinations, all while maintaining a pristine digital signal path to avoid unnecessary analog conversion stages. Configuration and routing of the AES channels are managed through the MediaMatrix Designer software, where they appear as available sources and destinations within the system's audio matrix.
