The Photoflex 871102 Adjustable Speed Ring is a heavy-duty, heat-resistant mounting bracket designed to securely attach professional softboxes onto continuous video and cinema lighting fixtures. Instead of being machined for one specific brand of light, this unique speed ring features an expandable clamping mechanism that can grip onto the front accessory flanges of any light fixture measuring between 5 and 9 inches in diameter.

Because film sets and rental houses often utilize a heavily mixed inventory of continuous hot lights—ranging from 650W tungsten fresnels to heavy HMI daylight fixtures made by Arri, Mole-Richardson, or LTM—buying a dedicated, brand-specific speed ring for every single light is extremely inefficient. The Photoflex 871102 solves this by functioning as a universal "master" ring. By simply adjusting the diameter, a grip or gaffer can quickly move a single softbox from a small Colortran fixture directly over to a larger Arri fresnel, saving both rigging time and gear budget.
