Description

The Power Star Mini from PSC is a compact and convenient power distribution system designed to provide 12VDC power to all of your ENG audio components from a single rechargeable battery. The unit has a 4-pin XLR power input and 6 outputs. Each output can deliver up to 3 amps of current, with a global total current of 5 amps. A top panel power switch controls 5 of the 6 outlets, while the 6th switch has an option of being controlled by the master switch or being in an always-on state. The Power Star Mini uses PSC's exclusive Silent Power Technology, which filters out unwanted switch mode noise and RF interference. This ensures clean, quiet recordings with minimal intermodulation noise, RF interference, and other noise. Additionally, each of the outputs is individually polyfuse protected and monitored for short circuits. Built-in status LEDs allow you to visually detect when an output is overloaded. The unit also has reverse polarity protection and genuine Switchcraft connectors, all in a sturdy aircraft aluminum body with a powder coat finish. The Professional Sound Corporation (PSC) Power Star Mini is a compact, rugged power distribution system engineered specifically for location sound recordists and Electronic News Gathering (ENG) professionals. Instead of relying on dozens of individual AA batteries to power various wireless receivers, recorders, and mixers inside a sound bag, the Power Star Mini allows a sound mixer to run their entire rig from a single, high-capacity rechargeable battery (such as an NP-1 or smart battery) distributing clean 12V DC power to up to six separate devices.

Because audio recording is highly sensitive to electronic interference, PSC built this unit with their proprietary "Silent Power Technology." This internal circuitry actively filters out RF interference and the high-frequency whine often caused by switch-mode power supplies, ensuring clean, artifact-free audio on location. Furthermore, it acts as a robust safety net for expensive audio gear; every single output port is actively monitored and protected by its own auto-resetting polyfuse to prevent a short circuit in one wireless receiver from taking down the entire sound bag.
