About the Radio Design Labs DD-BTN44 4x4 Bluetooth-FMT-A Dante Interface

The Radio Design Labs DD-BTN44 is a versatile, professional audio interface designed to bridge modern networked and wireless audio sources with legacy analog distribution systems. It functions as a 4x4 audio matrix, integrating four distinct input types: a high-quality Bluetooth receiver, an FM tuner (with RDS), a Dante network audio primary port, and a secondary Dante failover port. These four stereo sources can be independently routed to any of its four analog output zones via front-panel controls or network management. This makes it an ideal solution for commercial background music, paging, and sound masking systems in environments like retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and offices, where users need to select and distribute music from streaming devices, FM radio, or a networked audio stream to different areas of a building.

A core feature is its robust Dante integration, which allows it to be seamlessly incorporated into larger Dante audio-over-IP networks for centralized content management and distribution. The dual Dante ports provide automatic failover for mission-critical applications, ensuring audio continuity even if a network switch fails. The Bluetooth interface supports modern codecs like AAC and aptX for improved audio quality from smartphones and tablets, while the FM tuner offers both manual tuning and preset storage for local radio stations. Each of the four analog outputs is independently controlled with features like individual volume trim, bass and treble EQ, and a separate microphone input with priority ducking, allowing a localized paging microphone to temporarily lower the music volume in its specific zone.

The unit is engineered for reliable, continuous operation in rack-mounted installations, featuring a durable metal chassis, locking connectors for power and audio, and comprehensive remote management capabilities via Ethernet. Configuration and control can be performed through a web browser, RS-232 serial commands, or contact closures, offering flexibility for integration with third-party control systems. By consolidating multiple source types, providing flexible matrix routing, and offering extensive zone control, the RDL DD-BTN44 delivers a future-proof and highly functional interface that modernizes and simplifies audio distribution in commercial sound installations.
