Description

The AD 22S from Rane is a fully balanced, dual-channel audio delay unit designed for multiple applications, including speaker array synchronization and precision audio-to-video alignment. With two distinct modes, the AD 22S offers the functionality of dedicated devices within a single unit. Featuring a delay range of 2.00 mSec to 999.99 mSec, the unit displays the delay in units of time, distance, or frames. The dedicated Video mode can be used to provide almost a full second of audio delay in 0.5 frame increments for all standard NTSC or PAL/SECAM frame rates. The AD 22S can operate as two independent channels, or as a linked stereo pair. Front panel controls allow for choosing settings for each channel that can be stored into 2 nonvolatile memory locations for quick and easy access at any time. Read more

About the Rane AD22S 2-Channel Dual I/O Audio Delay Unit

The Rane AD22S is a professional, fully balanced two-channel audio delay unit engineered specifically to solve timing and synchronization problems in live sound, AV installations, and broadcast environments. It is most frequently deployed in two scenarios: time-aligning large distributed speaker systems (delay towers) so that the sound from the main stage and the sound from the rear speakers hit the audience simultaneously, or correcting annoying "lip-sync" errors in video broadcasting where heavy digital video processing causes the picture to lag behind the audio.

Because calculating the speed of sound or converting frame rates mathematically can be tedious during a fast-paced load-in, the AD22S features a highly intuitive front panel that can instantly display the delay time in milliseconds, physical distance (feet or meters), or standard video frames (NTSC and PAL). It operates strictly in the digital domain using high-performance 24-bit converters to ensure the delayed signal retains absolute transparency without adding noise or coloring the audio.
