RDL TX-PCR1 Paging Controlled Relay

$79.00

The RDL TX-PCR1 is a compact, reliable module designed to detect an amplified audio signal from a 25 V, 70 V, or 100 V constant-voltage speaker line (it can also handle an 8Ω input up to 75 watts when set to 25V). The input is transformer-isolated for safety and to prevent ground loop issues. When the audio signal exceeds an adjustable sensitivity threshold (set via a front-panel trimmer with a helpful red LED indicator), the unit triggers a powerful 8 Amp DPDT (double-pole, double-throw) relay.

The relay contacts can be used to switch speaker loads or control other equipment. A green LED indicates when the module is actively triggered. It features an adjustable release delay, from 3 to 25 seconds, which keeps the relay engaged for a set time after the audio stops, ensuring seamless operation during pauses in speech.

About the RDL TX-PCR1 Paging Controlled Relay

The RDL TX-PCR1 is a specialized audio-controlled relay module designed to automate functions in commercial and industrial paging and background music systems. Its primary function is to monitor an audio signal, typically from a paging microphone or background music source, and activate a relay when the audio level exceeds a user-adjustable threshold. This relay can then be used to trigger other equipment, such as muting background music, switching on amplifier zones, activating signal lights, or controlling HVAC dampers during an announcement, ensuring clear and prioritized delivery of paged audio.

The module is engineered for reliability and easy integration, featuring both an adjustable sensitivity control to set the precise audio level required for activation and an adjustable release timer to hold the relay closed for a defined period after the audio stops. This prevents rapid cycling during pauses in speech. It operates on standard 24 VDC power, common in commercial audio systems, and includes a front-panel LED to indicate relay status. Its compact, metal enclosure is designed for discreet installation within equipment racks or enclosures.

As a component within the RDL (Radio Design Labs) ecosystem, the TX-PCR1 exemplifies straightforward, effective system automation. It solves a common integration challenge by providing a simple, hardware-based interface between an audio event and a control action. This makes it an essential tool for installers designing intelligible paging systems in schools, retail stores, warehouses, and office buildings where automatic, hands-free control is required during announcements.
