The RME Digiface AES 14x16 Audio Interface is a portable, bus-powered USB 2.0 interface that serves as a versatile solution for professional analog and digital (AES/EBU, S/PDIF, ADAT) audio connectivity and format conversion. 

The RME Digiface AES is a compact, half-rack audio interface designed for high-quality audio recording, playback, and format conversion in studio and mobile environments. It offers a total of 14 inputs and 16 outputs, integrating two high-end mic/line preamps (derived from the Babyface Pro FS) with comprehensive digital I/O options including AES/EBU via XLR, S/PDIF via coaxial and optical connections, and 8-channel ADAT. All I/O can be used simultaneously, creating a flexible 30x16 routing matrix.

The interface incorporates RME's state-of-the-art SteadyClock FS technology for excellent jitter suppression, and the powerful, DSP-based TotalMix FX mixer provides latency-free monitoring with built-in effects like EQ, dynamics, reverb, and delay. The unit can operate in standalone mode with full control via its high-resolution color display and front-panel encoder and buttons, allowing up to six different device configurations to be stored.
