Description
As a 2U rack-mountable unit, the DMC842 offers comprehensive interfacing and control capabilities. Each of the eight XLR inputs supports the AES42 standard, which provides Digital Phantom Power (DPP) to compatible microphones. The DMC842 supports both Mode 1 (asynchronous) and Mode 2 (synchronized) AES42 operations. For microphones operating in Mode 2, the DMC842 can remotely control parameters like gain, polar patterns, high-pass filters, and compression directly from the front panel or via MIDI. For Mode 1 microphones, the unit's high-end sample rate converters allow for integration into a synchronous system. The DMC842 provides extensive output options, including 8 balanced analog XLR outputs, 8 channels of AES/EBU via a D-sub connector, and 8 channels of ADAT optical output. For larger systems, an optional MADI card can be installed, enabling up to 64 channels and daisy-chaining with other RME devices. The device features RME's signature clocking technologies, including SteadyClock and Intelligent Clock Control (ICC), ensuring impeccable synchronization and jitter suppression. Read more
