RME M16DA 16-Channel High-End MADI/ADAT to Analog Converter

$0.00

The M-32 DA offers an outstanding DA conversion from MADI and ADAT formats in a compact 19" unit with only 2U height. The balanced analog outputs based on RME's reference design from the ADI-8 QS guarantee excellent S/N and THD specs across a wide analog level range. Three different hardware levels are available. Using up-to-date converter technology, the device not only works up to 192 kHz, but also reaches a real-world signal-to-noise ratio of 118 dBA - on all channels. The units have separated driver stages for the TRS and D-sub outputs. The servo-balanced TRS jacks will work up to +21 dBu. When selecting +24 dBu the balanced D-sub connector outputs will provide the higher output level while TRS stays at the +19 dBu setting.

About the RME M16DA 16-Channel High-End MADI/ADAT to Analog Converter

The RME M16DA is a high-end, 16-channel digital-to-analog converter designed to transform MADI or ADAT optical digital audio signals into pristine analog outputs for professional monitoring, recording, and broadcasting applications. This standalone, half-rack-width unit serves as a critical bridge in complex audio systems, allowing users to extract multiple channels of analog audio from a digital audio network. It accepts digital input via both a MADI optical interface (supporting up to 64 channels at sample rates up to 96 kHz, or 32 channels at 192 kHz) and dual ADAT optical inputs (supporting up to 16 channels at 48 kHz, or 8 channels at 96 kHz via S/MUX). The converter then outputs 16 channels of high-quality, balanced analog audio on DB-25 connectors, utilizing RME's premium digital and analog circuitry to ensure exceptional clarity, dynamic range, and low distortion.

The M16DA is built around RME's advanced SteadyClock FS jitter suppression technology, which ensures impeccable clock recovery from the digital source, resulting in stable, jitter-free analog conversion even from long or complex digital chains. Each channel features a high-performance DAC and a discrete, servo-balanced output stage capable of driving both professional +4 dBu and consumer -10 dBV levels, with user-selectable reference levels via internal jumpers or software control (depending on model). The unit can be clocked from its internal reference or sync to the incoming digital signal, providing flexible integration into any studio or broadcast infrastructure. Status is clearly displayed via a front-panel LCD and LEDs, indicating sample rate, sync status, and signal presence.

Housed in a rugged, compact metal enclosure, the M16DA is designed for reliability in 24/7 operation. It can be powered via an external AC adapter or optionally via a redundant DC power input for critical installations. Its combination of MADI and ADAT connectivity makes it exceptionally versatile, suitable for expanding the analog outputs of a MADI-based mixing console, interfacing with a digital audio workstation via an ADAT-equipped interface, or serving as a high-quality DAC stage in a surround or immersive sound monitoring system. By delivering RME's reference-grade conversion in a scalable, multi-channel package, the M16DA provides a future-proof solution for the most demanding audio professional's analog output needs.
