$0.00

The RME TCO-FF is an optional expansion card that adds time code and video synchronization capabilities to the Fireface 800 audio interface. This provides sample-accurate synchronization for both audio and video production.

View Product Features

  • Time code synchronization: The TCO-FF allows the Fireface 800 to sync to incoming Linear Time Code (LTC) and video signals. It can also generate LTC to sync other devices.
  • Connections: The module features BNC connectors for LTC input and output, as well as a switchable Word Clock/Video sync input.
  • SteadyClock technology: RME's SteadyClock technology is used to extract an ultra-stable, low-jitter word clock signal from the incoming time code or video, ensuring the highest audio quality and conversion accuracy.
  • Format compatibility: It supports all common time code frame rates, including 24, 25, 30, and 29.97 frames per second, as well as drop-frame and non-drop-frame options. It automatically detects PAL and NTSC video formats.

About the RME TCO FF Time Code Option for the Fireface 800

The RME TCO FF is an optional timecode interface module designed for the RME Fireface 800 audio interface, adding comprehensive SMPTE/EBU timecode reading and generation capabilities to the system. This hardware option installs internally into a dedicated slot on the Fireface 800, transforming the interface into a complete audio workstation hub suitable for film, video post-production, and broadcast applications where precise synchronization to picture is essential. The module reads incoming LTC (Longitudinal Timecode) and converts it to MIDI Time Code (MTC) and word clock, allowing the Fireface 800 and the connected Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) to sync their transport and sample clock to an external video deck, editing system, or other timecode source. Conversely, it can also generate LTC from the internal clock or from incoming MTC, providing a master timecode output to slave other devices.

The integration of the TCO FF module ensures sample-accurate synchronization, which is critical for tasks like ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), Foley, and scoring, where audio must be perfectly aligned with picture frames. The module provides standard BNC connectors for timecode input and output, maintaining professional connectivity. Its functionality is seamlessly integrated into the Fireface 800's existing driver and control software (TotalMix), providing a stable and reliable timecode solution without requiring additional external boxes or complex cabling. This internal design preserves the Fireface 800's form factor and portability while significantly expanding its functionality for time-based media workflows.

By adding the TCO FF option, users leverage the Fireface 800's high-quality audio conversion and flexible I/O within a fully synchronized production environment. It exemplifies RME's modular and professional approach, allowing users to tailor their interface to specific production needs. For post-production studios, composers, and audio-for-video professionals, this module makes the Fireface 800 a powerhouse interface capable of handling the rigorous synchronization demands of modern audio post-production.
