Rolls MP13 Mini-Microphone PreAmplifier

The Rolls MP13 Mini-Mic Preamplifier is a compact single-channel microphone preamplifier designed for clean, straightforward amplification of microphone-level signals in home, studio, broadcast, presentation, and professional AV applications. It uses a servo-balanced instrumentation amplifier architecture to provide low-distortion signal amplification in a small desktop-format enclosure. The unit accepts both XLR and 3.5 mm microphone inputs and provides balanced XLR as well as 1/4-inch auxiliary/headphone output connections.

A single gain control provides up to 60 dB of gain through the XLR input path and up to 54 dB through the 1/4-inch path, with a front-panel clip indicator providing a visual warning of excessive signal level. The XLR input supports professional balanced microphone connections, while the 3.5 mm input accommodates compatible compact or consumer-style microphones. The 1/4-inch output can function as a mono unbalanced output or as a stereo headphone connection, giving the MP13 additional flexibility for monitoring and signal routing.

The MP13 incorporates switchable phantom power for compatible condenser microphones. Current Rolls documentation specifies +24 V phantom power at up to 6 mA, while the unit operates from an external DC power adapter. The included Rolls PS27s power supply is specified as a 15 V supply for the MP13, providing the external power required for continuous operation.

With dimensions of approximately 3.4 x 4.2 x 1.4 inches and a weight of approximately 1 lb, the MP13 is suited to installations where rack-mounted equipment would be unnecessarily large.
