The MK 4 features a 1-inch, true condenser capsule with a 24-carat gold-plated diaphragm, manufactured in the same clean room as Sennheiser's high-end condenser capsules. It is housed in a durable, full-metal casing and has an internally shock-mounted capsule to minimize handling noise. It operates on +48V phantom power via a standard XLR connector. The microphone delivers a warm, detailed sound with a low self-noise of just 10 dB(A) and a high maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 140 dB, making it suitable for capturing everything from vocals to acoustic instruments and amplifier cabinets. The cardioid pickup pattern is forgiving and offers excellent rejection of off-axis noise.
