Shure A400MB Microflex Mute Button and Adapter

$305.00

Improve your meetings and conferences with the Shure A400MB Microflex Mute Button and Adapter, which provides easy-to-locate mute functionality for surface-mount conference microphones. The touch-sensitive mute button fits washer-style between the microphone and the table surface to deliver a low-profile solution that works for MX395-LED boundary mics as well as the MX405, MX410, and MX415 gooseneck microphones.

The versatile design features a programmable switch that can be set for latched or momentary (push-to-talk/mute) modes. When used with multiple microphones, the A400MB can be set to local or remote mute control, allowing a user to simply mute their own mic or mute every mic in the room at the touch of a button.

Installation is easy; the A400MB adapts the 5-pin mini XLR connector to a standard block connector with no soldering necessary. The mute button fits in tables that are between 0.59 to 1.18 inches thick. Separately available accessories allow you to mount the button further from the microphone and to interface with conferencing apps including Teams and Zoom.

About the Shure A400MB Microflex Mute Button and Adapter

The Shure A400MB Microflex Mute Button and Adapter is a versatile accessory designed to add convenient, user-controllable muting capability to compatible Shure gooseneck microphones within the Microflex line, such as the MX series. This compact unit consists of two parts: a momentary push-button switch housed in a low-profile enclosure and a specialized adapter that interfaces between the microphone's base and the connected cable. Its primary function is to provide a tactile, easy-to-locate mute control directly at the microphone base for presenters, lecturers, or participants in a conferencing environment. This allows the user to quickly and discreetly mute their own microphone without fumbling for a control panel or relying on an operator, enhancing communication flow and reducing the chance of unwanted audio (like private conversations or paper rustling) being broadcast during meetings, lectures, or recordings.

The adapter component of the A400MB is key to its functionality. It inserts inline between the microphone's XLR output and the cable running to the mixer or system. When the user presses the button, it electronically opens the circuit, interrupting the audio signal path and effectively muting the microphone. The button is typically a momentary type, meaning it must be held down to maintain the mute state, or it may be configured as a push-on/push-off latching switch depending on the model and system integration. This design ensures simplicity and reliability, with no need for external power or complex wiring. The low-profile housing is designed to sit unobtrusively on the table or lectern, often within easy reach of the user's hand when they are near the microphone base.

Installation is straightforward and tool-free, making it a practical upgrade for existing Microflex microphone setups. It is particularly useful in multi-microphone settings like panel discussions, council chambers, or classrooms, where individual speaker control is desirable. By placing mute control directly at the point of use, the Shure A400MB reduces reliance on central mixing and empowers users to manage their own audio contribution, leading to more professional and controlled audio reinforcement in a variety of speaking environments.
