Shure UA830WB Active Remote Antenna

$0.00

The Shure UA830 is a low-noise, in-line antenna amplifier. The UA830 is intended for remote-mounting antennas to a Shure Model U4 or ULX receiver or Model UA845, or UA844 distribution amplifier in a large installation, effectively shortening the distance from the transmitters. The unit receives power through its output port from the Shure receiver or distribution amplifier. When an antenna is remote-mounted, the UA830 amplifies the received radio signals to compensate for insertion loss in the coaxial cable. A gain selector switch adjusts for longer lengths of coaxial cable.

The Shure UA830 is an active, in-line antenna amplifier designed for remote mounting of antennas with Shure wireless systems. It helps compensate for signal loss in coaxial cables when antennas are placed at a distance from the receiver or distribution amplifier. It's a low-noise amplifier that effectively extends the range and improves reception of wireless microphones and other wireless systems.

About the Shure UA830WB Active Remote Antenna

The Shure UA830WB is a wideband, active directional antenna system designed to dramatically extend the operational range and improve the signal quality of professional UHF wireless microphone and in-ear monitoring systems in challenging RF environments. Unlike passive omnidirectional antennas, this unit incorporates internal low-noise amplification (LNA) and utilizes a directional log-periodic array design to provide high gain and precise signal focus. This combination allows it to reach out and capture weak RF signals from distant or obstructed transmitters while effectively rejecting interference arriving from other directions. It is an essential tool for large venues, outdoor festivals, broadcast remotes, and situations where wireless transmitters may be used at extreme distances from the receiver rack, such as on-stage performers or roaming camera operators.

The antenna's physical design centers on its directional log-periodic dipole array (LPDA), which is housed within a rugged, weather-resistant radome suitable for temporary outdoor deployment. Its directional nature requires it to be aimed toward the area of transmitter activity, typically from a position at front-of-house or on a high truss, to establish a clear line-of-sight RF path. The unit is actively powered, receiving DC power remotely via the coaxial cable from an antenna distribution system like the Shure UA845, which simplifies installation by eliminating the need for a separate power cable at the antenna mast. This "phantom power over coaxial" approach ensures the internal amplifier receives clean power, enabling it to boost the captured RF signal with minimal added noise before sending it down the long cable run back to the distribution system and receivers.

Integrating the UA830WB into a wireless setup fundamentally transforms system capability, acting as a long-range, high-gain "RF lens" that pulls in clean signals that would otherwise be unusable. Its wideband design supports a vast swath of the UHF spectrum, making it versatile across many frequency bands without requiring hardware changes. For RF engineers and system technicians, this antenna is a problem-solving device for the most demanding wireless applications. It provides the critical link margin necessary to overcome signal loss from long cables, physical obstructions, and great distances, ensuring that audio from wireless microphones and personal monitors is received with exceptional clarity and reliability, even under suboptimal conditions.
