The SmallRig Universal Baseplate is a modular rigging component designed to adapt mirrorless, DSLR, and compact cinema cameras to an industry-standard 15mm LWS (Lightweight Support) rod system. By attaching to the bottom of a camera cage or directly to a camera body, it provides the foundational mounting points required to fly professional cinema accessories like follow focus motors, matte boxes, and V-mount battery plates.

Because different cameras and cages have varying optical center heights, mounting a matte box or follow focus without proper vertical alignment is often impossible. SmallRig solves this by offering several variations of their universal baseplate to accommodate different rig setups, ranging from low-profile bolt-on clamps to fully height-adjustable quick-release systems.
