The SmartAVI 8-Port Keyboard Mouse is a specialized command-and-control hub designed for complex multi-computer workstation environments like 911 dispatch centers, financial trading floors, and broadcast control rooms. Unlike a traditional KVM switch that routes video signals from multiple computers to a single monitor, a KM switch allows an operator to control up to eight separate computers—each utilizing its own dedicated monitors—using just one single keyboard and mouse.

Because operators monitoring fast-moving data streams across an array of eight different screens cannot waste time figuring out which physical keyboard corresponds to which computer (or lose critical desk space to multiple keyboards), a seamless switching solution is required. This SmartAVI KM switch solves this by utilizing Progressive Automatic Screen Switching (PASS) technology. It effectively knits the independent monitors into a single continuous workspace, allowing the operator to shift control from one PC to the next simply by moving their mouse cursor across the edge of the screens.
