The QFLEX 48 is a powered, digitally steerable multi-channel, column array loudspeaker designed as a complete solution for installed applications with challenging acoustics, such as houses of worship, transportation hubs, convention centres, conference facilities, shopping malls, performing arts centres and museums. The heart of the system is our proprietary VNET loudspeaker networking platform, which comprises both software and hardware DSP components that produce extremely-high speech intelligibility, impactful music reinforcement, and complete loudspeaker system diagnostics and monitoring.

The Tannoy QFLEX48 is an advanced, digitally steerable powered column array loudspeaker representing a significant leap in precise sound field control for complex fixed installation environments. Engineered for applications demanding exceptional intelligibility and consistent coverage, such as historic houses of worship, large transit hubs, auditoriums, and museums, this system replaces conventional passive columns with an integrated, active solution. It incorporates 48 individually controlled, full-range neodymium drivers, each driven by its own dedicated amplifier channel and managed by sophisticated Digital Signal Processing (DSP). This architectural core enables the creation of multiple, independent sound beams that can be digitally shaped, aimed, and focused to target specific listening zones while avoiding reflective surfaces or areas requiring acoustic privacy.

Control of the QFLEX48 system is managed through the proprietary BeamEngine software, a graphical user interface that provides an intuitive, room-based visualization tool. Within this software, an acoustical model of the venue is created, allowing the system designer to define exact coverage zones. The software then calculates and implements the complex delay, level, and EQ settings for each of the 48 drivers to generate the required beam patterns. This capability allows a single column to simultaneously deliver clear, tailored audio to multiple distinct areas—such as different seating sections, under-balcony areas, or a choir loft—all with independent volume and content control, effectively functioning as multiple loudspeakers in one physical enclosure.

The system is fully self-contained, housing all amplification, processing, and network connectivity within its sleek, low-profile column enclosure, which is designed for discreet integration into architectural spaces. Connectivity is comprehensive, featuring audio inputs, Ethernet control, and optional Dante digital audio networking for seamless integration into larger systems. By merging high-density driver arrays, individual amp-per-driver topology, and powerful beamforming software, the Tannoy QFLEX48 provides an unprecedented level of sonic precision and zoning flexibility, solving historically challenging acoustic problems and setting a new standard for clarity and control in premium installed sound.
