The RC-20 Direct Play Remote for CD-500/CD-500B from TASCAM utilizes the "flash start" capability of the CD-500 or CD-500B CD players to offer instant playback. The remote has 20 buttons, which can be used to instantly play any one of the first 20 tracks on a CD when you connect it to the remote jack on your CD player. The remote has room near each button for labeling, so you can locate material quickly. There is also a Stop/Load button for preloading tracks and stopping playback. The remote has a compact design, making it ideal for theater, broadcasting, PA, and other applications where space is at a premium. The TASCAM RC-20 Direct Play Remote is a dedicated wired remote controller designed for instant playback control of compatible TASCAM professional audio players, including the CD-500 and CD-500B. Built for applications where immediate access to audio playback is essential, the RC-20 is widely used in theatres, broadcast studios, houses of worship, museums, and live event venues for triggering music cues, announcements, sound effects, and jingles.

The remote features 20 large direct-play buttons, allowing operators to instantly start playback of tracks, programmed steps, or playlist entries without navigating the host device. A dedicated STOP/LOAD button provides immediate playback stop and supports flash loading on compatible players, helping reduce response time during cue-based productions. A built-in CONNECTED indicator confirms communication with the connected player.

Connection is achieved through a permanently attached 3.9 m cable terminated with a 2.5 mm TRS plug, with power supplied directly from the connected TASCAM device. The controller also provides ample space above each button for custom labeling, enabling operators to identify playback assignments quickly during live productions.
