About the Theatrixx Technologies 12G-SDI to ST Fiber xVision Converter with True1 Loop (Multi-Mode, ST)
The Theatrixx Technologies 12G-SDI to ST Fiber xVision Converter with True1 Loop (Multi-Mode, ST) is a professional broadcast-grade device engineered to convert 12G-SDI video signals to optical fiber for extreme long-distance transmission in live events, broadcast studios, rental houses, touring, and permanent AV installations. This compact, plug-and-play converter accepts a 12G-SDI input on BNC and transmits the signal over multimode fiber via a standard ST connector, supporting all professional video formats up to DCI 4K60 with embedded audio passthrough. A reclocked and amplified SDI loop-through BNC allows daisy-chaining to additional local equipment without signal degradation, eliminating external distribution amplifiers.
True to Theatrixx's road-focused design philosophy, the xVision series eliminates the weaknesses common in consumer-grade converters—fragile wall-wart power supplies, unreliable connectors, and weak enclosures. The unit features an integrated power supply with a locking Neutrik powerCON True1 input and a loop-through powerCON True1 output capable of delivering up to 10 amps to daisy-chain multiple units or power a nearby projector, television, or laptop directly from the converter. The rugged metal chassis incorporates a magnetic stacking system with non-skid rubber pads, allowing multiple converters to be stacked securely on tabletops without gaffer tape. Multiple mounting options including C-clamp, wall-mount adapter, LCD mount adapter, and belt adapter provide installation flexibility for any deployment scenario.
The conversion path fully supports 12G-SDI (SMPTE ST 2082-1 and 2082-10), 6G-SDI (SMPTE ST 2081-1), 3G-SDI (SMPTE 424M Levels A and B), HD-SDI (SMPTE 292M), and SD-SDI (SMPTE 259M) standards with embedded audio passthrough. The SFP-based optical transmission design ensures interoperability with standard SDI-over-fiber devices from other manufacturers. Clear status LED indicators provide real-time feedback for power, signal lock, and fiber link status. All connectors are mechanically secured to the frame rather than relying solely on PCB mounting, ensuring that cable strain distributes across the chassis rather than internal electronics. Theatrixx Technologies designs and assembles these converters in Canada, with certifications including CAN/CSA, UL 60950-1, and FCC Part 15 Class A.
